Collection: Birdwatching from Anawilundawa

Covering an area of over 1000 hectares, the Anawilundawa Wetland Sanctuary is located between Chilaw and Puttalam and is a designated wetland of International Importance. Anawilundawa is famed for its three diverse ecosystems - the mangrove and fresh water swamps, the salt water ecosystem and a handful of freshwater lakes. This distinct quality has made this a paradise for hundreds of bird species for nesting and breeding. Bird lovers would be overwhelmed with a simple bird watching day tour where you can learn and admire the habitat. Many species of fresh water fish, butterflies, amphibians and mammals are found in the wetland.
