Location
Ahangama is a small fishing community that is well renowned for its stilt fishing which is located towards the Deep South of the island. Located between the Southern historic towns of Galle and Matara, Ahangama is home to Insight. Surrounded by coconut groves, the hotel provides a beautiful view of the beach. The distance from Colombo is approximately 141 km while travelling is done via the Southern Expressway, the Colombo - Galle - Matara coastal motorway as well as the Southern Railway line.
Accommodation
Insight offers guests a number of 26 air-conditioned sea view guestrooms consisting of private balconies as well as 4 non air-conditioned sea view rooms to choose from. All guestrooms include an attached bathroom with hot and cold running water. With comfortable interiors the rooms are adorned with simple colours. There are three triple air-conditioned rooms while we offer three interconnecting rooms which are ideal for large groups.

The restaurant at Insight can accommodate up to 160 guests while everyone is offered a perfect view of the Indian Ocean due to the open and elevated concept of the restaurant architecture. A great choice of Western, Asian and Sri Lankan cuisine is served for guests while an a la carte menu is served especially for longer staying guests with the addition of Indian, Italian, Thai and Indonesian dishes. A speciality during lunch would be the snacks, bites and finger food. Located overlooking the pool, the hotel consists of a well stocked lobby bar offering guests a range of local and foreign liquor. There are a few tropical Sri Lankan cocktails that you should definitely taste.
Insight also offers an outdoor swimming pool which is located in the garden where kids can play around to their hearts content. Beach beds are spread across the garden under the tall swaying palm trees. Complimentary pool towels are available. There is also a pool bar that is available where you can quench your thirst with a soothing cocktail.
Excursions and Day Tours
With beautiful beaches and surf spots, Ahangama has always been a much visited tourist destination. There are many beaches between Ahangama and Galle where there is always consistent surf during the surfing season which begins in November and lasts till April. You can also witness stilt fishing that is still carried out by the village folk as a means of living. There are many excursions that you can enjoy while at Ahangama and the locations include Galle, Matara, Unawatuna and Mirissa. A number of other water based sports such as snorkelling, fishing and jet skiing are readily available along most of the coastal areas in the South.
