  • Small tree to 10 m high; branchlets angular when young, spines to 5-8 cm long. Leaves ovate; petiole 2-3 cm long. Inflorescence axillary, few-flowered. Flowers large, sweetly fragrant. Fruit subglobose, greenish-yellow; juice very sour, seeds numerous, fruit center eventually becoming hollow.
